McKim - prairie restoration, invasive species control
"We love it here. We want to restore the land and leave a conservation legacy for our kids and community", says Ralph McKim whose property south of Bethany has been naturalized according to a stewardship plan that looks well into the future. Ralph and Jean McKim's property has stunning views of the Fleetwood Creek. Both share a love of their land which is located south of Bethany. The McKim's stewardship projects have included:
- Recreating tallgrass prairie on 20 acres of sandy soil after a controlled burn to prepare the soil;
- Initiating invasive species control;
- Planting of trees around a large woodland;
- Developing a Stewardship Plan for future management of their property; and
- Developing a Managed Forest Plan which details a 5 year management plan and long term direction based on the McKim's goals for the property.
